The Ministry

Spirit of Arukah House...

Arukah House Ministries was founded by Charlton Thompson and his wife Christie and is located in Pascagoula, MS. Christie and Charlton saw the need first hand, as they served the homeless families throughout the surrounding areas of Mobile, Alabama.

We fed, clothed, discipled, and brought people into our home to love and care for them. Men, women, and children, all dealing with issues from homelessness, drugs, alcoholism, prostitution, pornography, broken families, etc., many of which also were dealing with prior records or child custody issues.

We were never able to find a ministry that would take an entire family without splitting them up. My wife Christie said, ‘We need God to give us a place for families’.

The Holy Spirit moved and in June 2013 the vision for Arukah House Ministries was birthed. In September of 2013, the Thompson’s learned of an old church and parsonage for sale in Moss Point, MS., it was purchased and with a little remodeling, Arukah House Ministries began.

Immediately, the ministry began to flourish, and fill to capacity housing families in need. A larger building would be needed if the ministry were to flourish! After much prayer, God was faithful and generous! In 2018 the ministry was donated two very nice buildings in Pascagoula, MS., by a local realtor and renovations began on the first building, including showers, laundry, bathrooms, bedrooms, and a full service kitchen. The ministry moved into the new buildings on July 4th, 2019.

As of 2021, Arukah House is once again at capacity and renovations have begun on the second building. In addition to this expansion, the original church and parsonage in Moss Point is being prepared for our Men’s ministry. God is incredibly generous, merciful, and intentional, with Arukah House Ministries and its people.

Arukah House is a 6-12 month, non-profit, faith based, life recovery center empowering individuals through spiritual enrichment, education, and personal responsibility. The program includes intense Christian based teaching and life skills training, in an atmosphere of excellence and honor. Spiritual counseling is available to aid in breaking the bonds of addiction. Our curriculum is centered on empowering the client to live victoriously without repeating past patterns.

The daily schedule is demanding and structured, starting at 5:00am and ending around 9:30pm. Bible study classes, parenting classes, anger management classes, and various life courses, and regularly scheduled work duties complete a day in the life of Arukah House. Participants in the ministry are under the supervision of the Pastors, Director, and Leaders, at all times. Arukah House strongly believes in accountability and supervision.

There are two campuses within the Arukah House ministry. The men’s campus is located in Moss Point, MS, and our women’s campus is located in Pascagoula, MS. While participating in the program, the women will volunteer their time at our thrift store and the men will volunteer their time at our fish farm. Both the store and the farm are vital programs that aid the participants in preparing for future employment. They learn many valuable life applications such as being a Team Player, Accountability, Responsibility, Attendance and Punctuality, and accepting instruction from persons of authority.

If you are interested in partnering with the ministry through volunteer work, donations, or professional services, please reach out to house. If you would like to make any monetary gifts, please make them online here. We also simply ask for your prayers for continued success, provisioning, and blessing!

Arukah House Ministry is committed to the truth that God loves people, gave Himself for them, and has given His Church supernatural power to bring individuals and nations into wholeness.

God is Good

Jesus perfectly reveals the nature of God as a good Father.  God is good regardless of our circumstances.  God is generous, and as we remember and retell what He has done, He’s able and eager to do it again.

Salvation Creates Joyful Identity

We are new creations, not merely “sinners saved by grace,” but saints who have been given His righteousness.  We are adopted as royalty into God’s family.

Responsive To Grace

God scandalously loves His “lost” creation and extends grace, empowering believers to love Him and others at a higher standard than the law.  Deeply experiencing grace enables us to walk out of shame and into righteousness.

Focused On His Presence

Our first ministry is to God.  As a lifestyle, we focus on Him while we minister and attempt to say what God is saying and do what He is doing.

Creating Healthy Family

We are adopted into God’s family, so we intentionally create family and community wherever we go.  We think like healthy family members by doing what’s best for the whole environment, submitting to one another, and living selflessly.

God’s Word Transforms

When we encounter God in the Word, faith is released into our lives.  As we study Scripture, it empowers us to learn who God is, who we are and how He wants us to live.

God is Still Speaking

Jesus said that His sheep would know His voice and that the Holy Spirit would teach us all things.  It’s natural for God to communicate with His family and important for us to listen, learn His language, and test what we are hearing with Scripture.

Jesus Empowers Supernatural Ministry

Jesus promised signs would follow believers and that they would do even greater works than He.  Nothing is impossible with God, so no person or situation is beyond His ability to bring complete restoration.

His Kingdom is Advancing

Every believer is in full-time ministry because God is advancing His Kingdom, not just building His Church.  Our work and effort, whether big or small, inside or outside the church, is sacred and valuable to God.

Free and Responsible

Christ died to set us free from the law of sin, death, fear, and shame.  Freedom is very personal, but not self-centered.  We have been given freedom to serve one another in love.

Honor Affirms Value

Honor recognizes and affirms how valuable and powerful other people are because they are made in His image.

Hope In A Glorious Church

We believe the Church will successfully fulfill Christ’s great commission to make disciples of all nations, which means the nations will be transformed.

Generous Like My Father

God is extravagantly generous.  The thread of this generosity is woven throughout His creation, covenants, provision, the person of Jesus, and the Kingdom, as He consistently models that it is more blessed to give than tor receive.  God has blessed us in every way so that we can be generous in every way to advance the Gospel.  Our generosity is a response to, and reflection of, Him.
